This unit provides the knowledge and understanding required in residential childcare settings about the development of children and young people from birth to 19 years. It looks at how various personal and external factors and times of transition can influence a child or young person’s development and explores theoretical perspectives of child development and how these are applied in practice.
The unit will also help you consider different ways of monitoring children and young people’s development using different methods and means of intervention to promote positive outcomes when a ‘typical’ development pattern is not followed.
