This is a new qualification, released in 2019, the aim of this course is to support leadership and management skills in early years and the knowledge and skills relating to the early years practice.
The Early Years Senior Practitioner should be a positive role model for the team. Through clear leadership and effective management, they will support and promote best practice.
You need to be over 19 years of age to do this qualification and already hold a level 3 Early Years qualification. You will need to be working in the role of Room Leader, Deputy or Manager in an appropriate setting, or have the opportunity to carry out responsibilities associated with these roles.
The course is made up of 18 mandatory units and usually takes between 15-18 months to complete.
Those aged 19 and over could access the Advanced Learner Loan to fund their course.
This is a government funded learner loan which can be used for a level 3, 4 or 5 qualification. It doesn’t take into account your household income, and it doesn’t affect your credit rating. It covers the cost of the course and you wouldn’t need to start paying it back until you earn £25,000. If you don’t earn that amount then you don’t pay anything and after 30 years the balance is wiped clean.
