This course takes a more in-depth look at the main characteristics and difficulties shared amongst people with Autism; as well as looking at the wide range of needs and abilities of individuals on the ‘spectrum’.
You will look at different communication methods and ways to support communication and social interaction for children and young people with autism; supporting positive behaviour and looking at reasons behind behaviours such as sensory differences; and how to promote independence and enable individuals to reach their full potential, working in partnership with other professionals and organisations.
The course covers the new SEND legislation, therefore covering working with children and young people with disabilities, from 0-25 years.
This professional development qualification provides essential knowledge and skills to anyone wanting to actively support individuals with Autism.
This course is made up of six units:
It is a knowledge only qualification so you can either be employed, volunteering or looking to work in an early years / school setting.
The course is run over 7 months with monthly day or evening sessions available.
