Level 2 Certificate in Introducing Caring for Children & Young People
This course will give you a good understanding of childcare and education, parenting and babysitting. It will also help you to make an informed choice about whether working with children and young people is right for you.
You have to complete 16 credits from a choice of 15 option units to complete this qualification. All of the units are optional, which allows you to choose from a variety of areas to tailor the course to your interests.
You must achieve a minimum of 16 credits. 9 credits must be achieved at level 2 and a further 7 credits can be achieved at either level 1 or 2.
Units to choose from:
- Safeguarding the welfare of children and young people (3 credits, level 2)
- Importance of play for early learning (6 credits, level 2)
- Use food and nutrition information to plan a healthy diet (3 credits, level 2)
- Introductory awareness of sensory loss (2 credits, level 2)
- The value of play to young children (3 credits, level 2)
- Young children’s development (3 credits, level 2)
- Accident prevention and fire safety when babysitting (2 credits, level 2)
- Caring for young children in a babysitting environment (2 credits, level 2)
- Craft activities with young children (2 credits, level 2)
- Rights and responsibilities in relation to parenting (2 credits, level 2)
- Parenting and healthy lifestyles (2 credits, level 2)
- Parenting a young baby (2 credits, level 2)
- Respecting and valuing children (2 credits, level 1)
- Sharing learning experiences with children (4 credits, level 1)
- Children’s play and leisure activities in the community (3 credits, level 1)
As this is a knowledge only unit you do not need access to a workplace to complete this course.
Once you have completed the course you will be awarded with an accredited Cache certificate.
No college attendance is required.
