This qualification provides training for roles such as Teaching Assistant, Classroom Assistant and Learning Support Assistant whose responsibilities at work are closely supervised and who work under the direction of the class teacher.
You will gain knowledge of legislative guidelines, policies and curriculum requirements and how to implement them, as well as gaining literacy, numeracy and IT functional skills to support your work with children.
This course is aimed at those who undertake a broad range of activities that are often less routine and demand some level of independence or responsibility.
You work at your own pace but should expect to take around 12 months to complete your course. We encourage learners to use our e-portfolio system – Learning Assistant.
Input includes attendance at Eden Training to develop the skills you need, through structured teaching sessions, this is discussed and agreed at interview.
This course is available as an Apprenticeship for all ages!
The Apprenticeship framework consists of CACHE level 2 Certificate in Supporting Teaching & Learning in Schools; Employment Rights and Responsibilities unit; Functional skills at level 1 in Maths and ICT; Functional skills at level 2 in English. You will need to be employed for a minimum of 16 hours a week.
If you have GCSE’s they may exempt you from all or part of the functional skills.
