This course has been designed to provide you with an understanding of the knowledge and skills needed when working directly with children and young people in school and college environments. It covers a wide range of areas including children and young people’s development, supporting children and young people’s positive behaviour and communication and professional relationships. It is aimed at those working in roles that support children’s learning in primary, secondary or special schools.

Your assessor will visit you in the workplace to plan with you, carry out observations, question you on knowledge evidence and generally support you through your course.
We will identify someone within the workplace who will act as your mentor and support you during your qualification.
The course will take approximately 6-8 months to complete and you will need to be working, this can be employed or volunteering, a minimum of 6 hours a week in a school classroom for the duration of the course.
There will be a taught session at the college every month that all learners are encouraged to attend as this is an opportunity for us to support you in understanding each task, to gain ideas and to socialise with others on the same course.
